This class will give you tools to craft without strain on your body. Learn about optimal posture, how your body moves with different fiber arts, and stretches to help keep the pain away. Taught by Anna Porter, a physical therapist who is also a fiber artist. Bring a craft or two to practice the techniques taught in the class.
We all make mistakes when we are knitting, especially Erin! How do you think she got to be so good at fixing them?
This class will help you to understand not only how to fix particular mistakes, but to understand the structure of your knitting. We will learn how to correct many “oopsies,” including, but not limited to, dropped stitches, twisted stitches, extra stitches, missing stitches, wrong stitches, and more.
This class is appropriate for anyone who ever experiences a slight moment of panic when faced with the moment that something “just doesn’t look right.”
Rhonda Berman $70 (all-inclusive price, no kit fee!)
We will be making brooch/pin or art piece using zippers, roving and embellishments in the shape of Patchwork Patty.
The zipper is hand sewn onto wool felt making an outline of a design. The inside is then filled in with wool roving using the technique of needle felting. Then buttons, ribbons and other embellishments can be added.
Students will learn also how to prepare a zipper and apply a pattern. Instruction of needle felting will also be included in this class as well as embellishment tips and finishing options.
This class is open to all skill levels…if you can thread a needle, you can do this art form, however very sharp needles are used so it is preferable if students are at least 12 years of age. Needle felting experience is a plus but not a prerequisite for this class.
Kelsy Jenkins $55 (all-inclusive price, no kit fee!)
In this hands-on class, students will learn how to create prefelt, a partially felted wool sheet used as a base for wet-felting projects. Prefelt is useful for making appliqué shapes, layered designs, and controlled patterns in felted artwork. Students will explore wool fiber, layering techniques, and the early stages of the felting process.
The instructor suggests also taking her class How to Use Prefelt, for an opportunity to create your a finished project with your prefelt.
Kelsy Jenkins $55 (all-inclusive price, no kit fee!)
In this hands-on wool felting class, students will learn how to use prefelt as a design element in a finished felted piece. Participants will explore layering, cutting, shaping, and attaching prefelt during the wet felting process to create texture, patterns, and dimensional details. Using wool fibers, water, soap, and simple resist techniques, students will complete a small decorative or functional felted project while gaining an understanding of surface design and fiber bonding.
The instructor suggests also taking her class Making Prefelt, for an opportunity to create your own prefelt to use during class.
